The International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) is the a virtual organization, coordinating the work of individuals from member associations and their member companies.
Each leadership has its own purpose, role and activities to represent the world-wide voice of the chemical industry, representing chemical manufacturers and producers all over the world.
To activate this duty, there are four leadership Groups; Energy & Climate Change (E&CC) Leadership Group, Chemical Policy & Health (CP&H) Leadership Group. Responsible Care (RC) Leadership Group. Communication Leadership Group, and 1 Trade Policy Network to respond the need of a global chemical industry.
The Energy & Climate Change Leadership Group seeks to develop and promote a sustainable, comprehensive and globally aligned industry strategy that:
- - Enables development of innovative products and technologies to help meet greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals
- - Recognizes the GHG reductions already achieved by industry
- - Ensures the security of energy supply.
- - Maintains industry's competitiveness.
The Chemical Policy & Health (CP&H) Leadership Group directs global industry implementation of the ICCA's Global Product Strategy* and drives improved product stewardship in close cooperation with the Responsible Care Leadership Group.
- - The CP&H Leadership Group is leading ICCA's efforts to improve risk assessment, risk management and transparency throughout the global industry and by 2020 aims to have:
- - Established a base set of hazard and exposure information per substance and to conduct safety assessments for chemicals in commerce
- - Provided global capacity building to implement best assessment practices and management procedures, especially with SMEs and in developing countries
- - Shared relevant product safety information with co-producers, governments and the public
- - Worked across the value chain so suppliers and customers can effectively evaluate risk and enhance their performance
The Responsible Care Leadership Group (RCLG) manages the Responsible Care initiative at the global level. Membership Includes representatives of all associations that implement Responsible Care at the national and regional levels, as well as participants from implementing companies.
Seeks the full implementation of the Responsible Care Global Charter*, launched in February of 2006. (revised in May, 2014)
Governs the global Responsible Care initiative through reviews each country association’s status and performance outcomes; and when necessary carries out corrective actions up to and including recommending to the ICCA Board of Directors the removal of a member association from the RCLG;
- - Monitors the use of the Responsible Care brand to ensure its integrity
- - Develops statements of policy, position and guidance for the implementation of Responsible Care
- - Organizes communication, mutual assistance and other technical support to build capacity and other knowledge necessary to achieve performance improvement
- - Contributes to the implementation of the Global Product Strategy through strengthening? enhancing and communicating the product stewardship aspects of Responsible Care.
